How we calculate
The calculator counts total calendar days between the two dates and also shows the difference in calendar format (years, months and days).
Formula used
Difference = end date − start date, counted in calendar days.
Diferença = data final − data inicial
Practical example
Between 2026-01-01 and 2026-12-31 there are 364 days — just over 52 weeks, or almost a full year in calendar format.
How to interpret the result
Total days is useful for exact deadlines. The years/months/days breakdown is more intuitive for everyday duration (e.g. "2 years, 3 months and 10 days").
Limitations
The calculation only considers calendar days, without accounting for time zones or daylight saving time. For business days only, use the business days calculator.
